We were appointed to design a two storey side extension and single storey rear extension to this 1920's detached house in Wallington. At ground floor we decided to demolish the existing single storey side extension as it was unsuitable for the proposed first floor extension. Also, as this area was converted from a garage 10 years ago which meant the clear head height was not appropriate for a habitable space. The front section of the ground floor side extension includes a small WC, cloakroom and generous utility area. The rear of the side extension becomes a library and office.
The rear extension creates an enlarged lounge which has a panoramic view of the garden with a large dining space. The kitchen layout has also been rationalized to maximize the space, which also includes a new pantry area.
The first floor side extension creates a walk-in-wardrobe and ensuite to the Master bedroom and increases the "box" room into a substantial double bedroom
