Chiswick Rooms
This scheme includes a 39-bedroom extension to an existing boutique hotel in Chiswick. The proposed development aims to upgrade the current hotel space and accommodation facilities. The design consists of a two storey extension of the existing building, plus a part two storey and part three storey extension within the perimeter of a former builders yard to the rear.
The existing hotel is situated within a conservation area and is considered a building of merit by the council. This development will expand the existing reception area and add a new breakfast dining room on ground floor level, as well as extend rooms on the upper floors of the existing building. Most importantly, both the existing and new buildings will be made fully wheelchair accessible with the addition of 2 passenger lifts, accessible corridors and bedrooms. The new basement will house the mechanical and electrical plant equipment required for the expansion and upgrade of the existing services as well as 15 new bedrooms. 24 new bedrooms will be added in the ground and first floor of the new extension.
The proposed materials and shape are sympathetic to the materiality and volume of the surrounding buildings, introducing a more contemporary aspect to the proposed design. The intensive green roof will complement the surrounding properties’ gardens and enhance the existing natural habitat. The proposed design will dramatically improve the outlook for the surrounding buildings and contribute positively to the local urban fabric.
