Chinmaya Mission
KJC were delighted to work closely with the Chinmaya Mission, which is a local Hindu community, religious and educational centre based in Hendon, London.
We worked closely with the community leaders and members to develop their complex brief from initial conception right through to finalise the layouts. The original building was outdated and a series of small interlinking rooms which were no longer suitable for the community.
The development included removing the existing roof, floors and all internal walls, with a complicated facade retention structure in use to allow for a complete reconfiguration of the floor plans. The building is situated within a conservation area, which added another level of complexity to the planning process, all of which were dealt with directly in house at KJC.
The new layouts included a central auditorium, library, bookshop, prayer room, classrooms, AV room, residential accommodation for visiting international speakers.
