The Lensbury Resort
The Lensbury is a 4-star hotel and resort located in Teddington, West London, on the banks of the River Thames. The site consists of a 155 bedroom hotel, private members club, gym, spa, 25m pool, restaurant, bars and conference facilities. KJC Architects were tasked with implementing design changes to create a front entrance as well as improve the architecture of the entrance so it signifies the importance of the area. We also wanted to create some consistent architecture for the front and rear entrances as well as improve the landscaping to create better circulation throughout. New improved cycle storage was also required as well as relocating the escape stairs to be both functional and less imposing to the overall character of the building. It was also a priority to create a semi secluded terrace for the members lounge.
KJC’s proposal aim’s to resolve the key aspects affecting the site by introducing a consistent architectural language to both the front and the rear of the members reception area. The relocation of the cycle storage allows the new corten blades to act as a distinct architectural feature to the front of the building. Equally to the rear, the relocation of the escape stairs provides an opportunity to have a new terrace for the members lounge, whilst also reinstating the symmetry to the rear elevation of this section of the building. The new stair location can be integrated with the cantilevered blades, allowing for a consistent architectural design for the members area which is distinct and complements the existing building.
KJC look forward to working with The Lensbury Resort on this exciting proposal and ensuring it adds the desired quality and finish to the existing building.
